Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions? I have answers! Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions

Does waxing hurt?

For the most part, Yes! Every one of us has a different pain tolerance and the level of discomfort is to your threshold of pain. Most clients say it's very tolerable and the pain tends to ease over time! Make sure to drop that razor and never look back!

What is the aftercare for face and body services?

These cover different areas of the face and body!

-Keep the waxed area clean for the next 24-36 hours

-Clean your face brushes, avoid makeup if your skin is prone to breakouts

-Change your bed and pillow sheets

-Wash your hair (hair picks up a lot of dirt)

-Immediately wash your hands for 20 seconds before touching the waxed area

-No sexual activity if waxed in this area

-No hot baths or showers (lukewarm or cool)

-No saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms

-No indoor/outdoor tanning or spray tans

-No sports, working out, sweating or other exercise

-No swimming in pools, lakes, rivers, etc

(there is bacteria) EEEKKK!

-Wear breathable underwear if this area was waxed

-Wear clean, loose clothes or cotton loose clothing

-Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or any other products to the freshly waxed area (other than recommended by your waxer)

Starting 3 days after your wax appointment, exfoliate every day or every other day lightly and moisturize every day. However, do not moisturize the day of your waxing appointment!  The wax won't stick well.

Your pores need time to close and to stay away from all forms of dirt and bacteria

If you do get a breakout, you may have got bacteria into your pores; you can always ask your waxer what to do or products I recommend!

How long does waxing last?

This answer does vary from person to person. Everyone is different on how our bodies produce hair. Hair in different areas of the body grows faster or slower than on other areas. Waxing results can last anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

Could I experience irritation from waxing?

Yes, it is possible. This varies from person to person. Keep in mind, a person's body chemistry, medical history, medications, and product choices can play a strong role in skin irritation. Skin irritation symptoms can vary as well.

What conflicts with waxing?

There are many products, treatments, and medications that can prohibit waxing while using.

If you are unsure when to temporarily stop using products in order to have a service, ask your waxer before booking your appointment!

Can I get ingrown hairs from waxing?

There are people who are prone to ingrown hairs no matter what the hair removal process is. In my experience, most people get less ingrown hairs from waxing than from shaving. I highly recommend exfoliating with a dry brush (lightly daily or every other day before showering) in the waxed area. Start this 3 days after getting a wax.  Keep your brush dry and your body dry, lightly brush the area to help lift up dead skin cells. Also, I recommend products like: StarPil Ingrown hair spray, Queen Bee Buzz Off Bumps Pads, and Queen Bee Set The Tone daily to help prevent breakouts, folliculitis, and ingrown hairs.

How can I ease my pain from waxing?

Drink plenty of water before your service. Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours and avoid being on your menstrual cycle, if possible. If your doctor approves, take Ibuprofen 30-40 mins before your service to help minimize the pain. You can also invest in a waxing numbing cream. I highly recommend Relax & Wax No Scream Cream for numbing; it works like a charm! Keep in mind, there is nothing that I can do to take the pain away completely.

Can I tan if I want to wax?

You should avoid indoor/outdoor sun tanning for at least 36-48 hours before a wax. Waxing is also an exfoliation treatment and waxing over freshly tanned skin can result in skin lifting and major irritation! Don't do it, you will regret it!

P.S. Get your waxing done first before a spray tan; you don't want to look like a zebra!

What if I have a special event coming up - any advice?

Whether it's your big day or a special event, if it's your first time having a service, I recommend trying it out 6 weeks before and one more time 3-4 days before the event (this depends on the waxing service). It is important to try the service in advance to see how your skin will react. You are less likely to experience a skin reaction, but it still could happen.  It's good to be prepared!  You want to be lookin' BOMB!

Is waxing better than shaving?

Waxing

-Results last much longer

-Doesn't leave shaving stubble

-Exfoliates the skin

-Brightens the skin

-Leaves hair thinner and finer over     repeated visits

-Slows down hair grow

-Helps reduce ingrown hairs

-Removes hair from root

Shaving

-Hair grows back thicker and more coarse

-Results last 1-2 days

-Increase in hair growth

-Shaving can create strawberry legs

-Can cause ingrown hairs, razor burn, razor bumps, and razor cuts! Hmmm, ouch!

Do you use soft or hard wax?

Both! I use soft and hard wax. Since services are different, it varies between the client's needs and the circumstances. I use high-quality soft and hard wax.

How long does my hair need to be to wax?

For face waxing: I say long enough to pinch the hair.

Neck down: 1/4 inch(length of a grain of rice) to 1/2 inch.

It won't be fun with all that time and effort you put into your service if only some of the hair can be removed.

The key is you want all three of your hair cycles grown out and long enough to be pulled.  This allows your hair cycles to start growing at the same time and you'll have longer-lasting results!

Do I offer sugaring?

Sorry, gorgeous! I only specialize in waxing services, not sugaring.

How old does my child need to be to start waxing?

Child needs to be the age of 10 to legally start being waxed. Parent signature and parent present is required with child during service. Please note, I customize to what the parent requests.

Do you offer men's brazilian waxing?

Sorry there, sir, I do not offer brazilian waxing for men.

I am overweight or I am uncomfortable with my body! Is waxing for me?

HECK, YES, waxing is for you! I wax people with different backgrounds, shapes, and sizes. My studio is a no-judgment zone! I am not here to judge you, I am here to wax you and make you look great!

Where are you located?
